The P15 Senna is the third in the McLaren Ultimate Series after the F1 and the P1 and the Senna’s purpose is to be the fastest road legal track car.
With a carbon fibre monocoque, MonoCage III, for rigidity and light weight, the Senna is powered by a modified version of McLaren’s twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the M840TR, which delivers 789bhp to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Stunning though these figures are the real benefits are gained from the superb aerodynamics.
Straight from Formula 1 the double element diffuser is fed by front and side air intakes and air flow is guided mini canards at the front with louvres in the rear. The large adjustable double element, electronically operated rear wing will also act as an airbrake.
The Senna uses the latest generation of Brembo’s carbon ceramic brakes with three and a half times better thermal conductivity enabling the brake discs to be smaller and lighter. They fit inside new lightweight centre lock alloy wheels allied to McLaren’s hydraulic RaceActive Chassis Control II suspension.
The interior is well appointed though stripped back to save weight and consists mostly of exposed, polished carbon fibre with an Alcantara dash top and seat covering, behind the seats there is space for two helmets and race suits, reflecting track the focused design.
